This is because I am using my Nokia 6610i to take pictures.  I don’t have a data cable so I have send myself MMS in order to get the pictures. It’s quite tedious, I swear. But it’s the only method I have right now, as my phone doesn’t have bluetooth. (It sucks, I know.)

So for the moment, please bear with the weirdness of bento dates here on this blog. :)

Salted duck egg, okra and a tuna sandwich

The combination of okra, salted duck egg and tomato chunks are common in the Philippines. They could be the main viands or just a side dish. In my case, I had them as the main viand.

For dinner, I made a tuna sandwich and included some tomatoes and lettuce on the side. I am trying to be more healthy, you see. That’s why I try to lessen the rice I eat.

Pasta, Bunny Apples and Bread Sticks with Tinapa Pate

Originally uploaded by happyeclair.

This was an experimental bento for me. I made tinapa pasta that was good for five people. The only time I made tinapa pasta, I intended it to be eaten by only two to three people. Anyway, I used whole wheat fusili. It was cooked in boiling water for 7 minutes. (It was said in the pack that cooking time is 7 minutes.) I sauteed some garlic in olive oil, then added the quartered cherry tomatoes (thanks to Chelle!). Prior to all that, I already prepared the tinapa strips (slivers, whatever you call them) from the tinapang bangus I bought from the Salcedo Park bazaar that weekend. A dash of salt and pepper were added – for extra flavor. Besides, I love pepper! I added some tomato sauce too because I realized that I had much pasta to mix…

I attempted to make bunny apples too. I am so glad that a Google search gave me instructions on how to make them. My co-workers were amused with the bunnies!

The bread sticks were yummy. The small packet I got from Shopwise Cubao was just enough to fill my bento box’s lower tier. Tinapa pate was there as dip. Owie loved the tinapa pate. He found it addicting.

Anyhow, this bento was nice. :) JM loved the tinapa pasta. I think everyone did. I hope to make better tinapa pasta. I really must learn how to add garnish to it.

Sauteed Sitsaro and an Attempt at Making Tamagoyaki

Originally uploaded by happyeclair.

I know this doesn’t look much but it seemed delicious enough for me. Hehe.

I sauteed some sitsaro in a small pan. I used a lot of garlic. I love the taste of garlic! And because of that, I decided to make fried rice too.

The tamagoyaki was a bit salty though. I had too much soy sauce for my taste. I didn’t measure the soy sauce, that’s why. Aiya. Tamagoyaki. If it’s not too sweet, it ends up too salty.

The fried rice was made from rice from the night before. I didn’t want to cook rice anymore. Also, leftovers have to be eaten, right? Or you’d end up throwing them away. Waah! That would have been a waste of food.

Bento blogging

I’ve been bringing bento to work and I was thinking that it would be good to keep a separate blog for it already.  I would still cross-post to my LiveJournal account but it’s great to have a specialized blog for bento posts so I could keep track of my progress. :)
